Welcome to All Things Data Prep! My name is Baba Majekodunmi and I am a Data Prep enthusiast.

I have fallen in love with Data Prep during my current tenure in the Credit Union Industry. I have been fortunate to be involved in a variety of projects that were operational, tactical, and strategic. For all of those projects Monarch from Altair (formerly Datawatch) was my platform of choice for Data Preparation. I have seen first hand how Monarch can be parlayed from a Siloed Self-Service initiative to a Team-Driven Enterprise Value Added Service. One of my greatest passions however is teaching, training, and developing self sufficient Data Prep Professionals.

In this blog I will share my story, thoughts, and opinions on ‘All Things Data Prep’. I have several objectives I hope to accomplish;

1. Demystify Data Prep: Many still don’t understand what Data Prep is, the full range of tasks that constitute as Data Prep, and all of the practical uses cases for it. My goal is to help explain and show case the full capabilities of Data Prep.

2. Help to Foster Digital Dexterity and Data Literacy: The skill set of the Modern (Digital) Data Professional must include Data Prep. Data Prep Professionals are Data Literate, and subsequently Digitally Dexterouos (more to come on this).

3. Help Create the Job Market for Data Prep: As awareness for Data Prep grows and more people understand the possbiltities, I believe the value of Data Prep as a dedicated profession will become apparent. I plan to offer my idea of job descriptions and profiles of Data Prep Professionals at various levels.

Not sure if I will complete these goals but I am certainly going to enjoy trying. I invite you to join me on this journey to help Demstify Data Prep.
